D23 Limited Edition The Muppets aDorbs Mystery Pins!

Image
There was also one more surprise Muppet exclusive released Sunday at D23 - a set of  aDorbs Muppet  Mystery  Pins. The main set consist of Kermit, Piggy, Gonzo, Rizzo, Camilla, and Pepe and are a limited edition of 400.  There are also 4 chaser pins limited to 300 and 2 SUPER limited pins limited to 200. The Chasers consist of Fozzie, Bunsen, Beaker, The Swedish Chef, Same Eagle, and Rowlf.  I'm not sure which are the chasers and which are the SUPER chasers, but I'm sure it'll be incredibly hard for fans to complete their sets giving the scarcity of the line.  Each box originally sold for $27.95 with two pins per box at the expo and are sadly already selling on ebay for astronomical amounts.

D23 Exclusive Muppet Merch!

Image
Seeing how this blog's primary focus is Muppet merchandise, here is our favorite part of any convention, the exclusive merch.  Disney used the same set up as last year for their Muppet area. The crates labeled "The Muppets Studio" and the vintage cameras created a backstage feel.  They also had many items from last year as well Including Muppet Studio tote bags, hats, and shirts.  a long sleeve shirt with a small embroidered Kermit head, and a Muppet Vision 3D crop top.  New this year was a Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem shirt featuring Lips! An outline of Kermit pen,  and new Muppet Studios drinkware and notebooks, as well as pajamas, shirts and drinkware featuring a new Muppet heads pattern.  Eagle eyed fans have already noticed the pattern not only consists of well known Muppets like Kermit Fozzie, Piggy, and Gonzo, but it also includes fan favorite and lesser known characters like, Lew Zealand, Uncle Deadly, Camilla, Bean Bun...

D23 Muppets Mayhem!

Image
Not only were the The Electric Mayhem action figures on display , the band itself made their first appearance at D23 this weekend to promote their upcoming Disney+ series Muppets Mayhem .  Not only did they performed "Can You Picture That?" (Check it from various perspectives of fans in attendance).    Afterward Floyd, Janice, and Animal joined costar Tahj Mowry to discuss their time working on the show. (Again check it from various perspectives of fans in attendance),    Disney blog Laughing Place also got Red Carpet interview with the series Co-Creator/ Executive Producer, Jeff Yorkes. Anyone else notice Peter Linz's take on Lips? Sounds like he'll now talk in a dialect only the other members of the band can understand. It took decades for Steve Whitmire to finally come up with a voice and personality for the yellow trumpet player on ABC's short lived  The Muppets . We'll se how this shift works when  The Muppe...

D23 Muppet Christmas Carol 30th Anniversary!

Image
Christmas came early this year as D23 celebrated  The Muppet Christmas Carol' s 30th anniversary.  Director Brian Henson, songwriter Paul Williams, costume designer Polly Smith, Muppet Performer Dave Goelz, joined host Nina West to talk about the film's enduring appeal. Disney Legend Jodi Benson performed "When Love is Gone." And Nina West and the Muppets closed the panel with a medley of the movie's songs.  It was also reveled that the full version of the film- including  "When Love is Gone" - will debut on Disney+ in December.  You can watch highlights from various perspectives from those in attendance below.  The full version of The  Muppet Christmas Carol -  including  "When Love is Gone" will debut on Disney+ December 11th -  exactly 30 years after the film's initial theatrical release.

D23 Super7 Electric Mayhem ReAction Figures on Display!

Image
Over the weekend Disney held its annual D23 expo and there were plenty of Muppet surprises revealed over the three day convention. Part one of our look at all the Muppet D23 happenings is that Super 7's revealed their Muppet ReAction figure line featuring Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem for the first time. The figures of Dr. Teeth, Animal, Janice, Floyd, Zoot, and surprisingly Scooter were on  display , but sadly no sign of Lips. Perhaps Super7 is going for the group as they appeared in  The Muppet Movie  with Scooter being the band's road manger, but with the new  Muppets Mayhem  series prominently  featuring Lips as part of the band, I'm surprised  Disney didn't push for their inclusion.  Some look better then others, but w e should state that these are still in the prototype phase and still need "Licensor Approval" before being moved to the next phase of production.  We forwarded these images to our friend James Carro...

D23 Fall Issue Muppet Mentions!

Image
The fall issue of Disney Twenty-Thee, Disney's official fan magazine just came out, and while The Muppets aren't featured, they are mentioned a few times.  Disney fan and Muppets Haunted Mansion guest Yvette Nicole Brown was asked who was her favorite Muppet to work. Luckily her favorite Muppet and her favorite to work with are one an the same.. Gonzo! Below she explains why: There were also some subtle Muppet mentions and allusions including using "It's Not Easy Being Green" as the headline for an article about She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: The Muppets (2015) guests Keegan-Michael Key was mentioned as part of the cast of the Disney's upcoming live action remake of  Pinocchio. See if you can spot the typo, Unfortunately, that was all the Muppet stuff in this issue of Disney Twenty -three, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more with The Muppet Christmas Carol 's 30th anniversary and Muppets Mayhem on the horizon.
