Last week Adam Savage’s Tested posted a video about his trip to the Henson Creature Shop were John Tartaglia and Donna Kimball, along Gobo and Mokey Fraggle showed Adam how the Muppets work . He's now posted another video, this time  Brian Henson and Drew Massey show  Adam Henson's digital puppetry system.  While it may be best known for its mastery of hand puppetry, the Jim Henson Company is also a place of major technological innovation. At Henson Studios, Brian Henson, Chairman of the Board at the Jim Henson Company, and puppeteer Drew Massey give Adam a demo of the Henson Digital Performance System, a proprietary system that allows performers to puppeteer digital characters in real time. We've been teased for over year about the upcoming Electric Mayhem series, Muppets Mayhem and now Disney is giving us a proper teaser trailer.  The Mayhem begins below:   Since it's just a teaser they thankfully don't give to much away but there's a nice Spinal Tap spoof. I mean their amps only go to 11! And we get a full body shot of band rocking out! But the best of the teaser? We know have an official release date.. May 10th with all episode being released at once! Disney also released the poster for the series as well. Muppets Mayhem  streaming in May 10th only on  Disney+ .

Sad news as Philip Balsam  who – along with Dennis Lee – was the songwriter and composer  for Fraggle Rock and many other Henson productions has died.  The Henson Company posted the following tribute on social media: "For the magic, magic is in every moment. Magic is you.” – Balsam & Lee Today we honor and celebrate the life of Philip Balsam, who – along with Dennis Lee – was the songwriter and composer of the nearly 200 memorable and beloved songs for Fraggle Rock , including its iconic theme song. A cherished member of our Fraggle Rock family, he inspired generations of fans and musicians, and his heartfelt work will continue to bring joy for many years to come." Balsam also provided the voice, and inspired the name, for  Phil Fraggle in " New Trash Heap in Town ", made a cameo as a  street musician in " The Day the Music Died " and it's presumed that  Balsam the Minstrel  was named after him as well.  Balsam and Lee later wrote son...

So this year, as part of Muppet Stuff's 10th Anniversary, let's look back at Muppet Stuff's April Fools' Day's that have come before. In 2014, Constantine took over, changed the name to the "Mappet Stuff" blog, then presented nothing but news and products about himself. He also took over Tough Pigs and The Muppet Mindset as well.  In  2015,  our site was taken over again, this time by the Chamberlain, who changed  the name to the " Skeksis Stuff" blog...with the appropriate tag line "hmmm hmmmm hmmmm mmmmmmmmm" He then of course presented nothing but news and products about ya know... Skeksis stuff.  The following year Muppet Stuff wasn't taken over, but presented Funko's Pre 1986  "Invisible Snuffy" Pop figure .  A few years later there was a showcase of  Disney+'s next wave of Muppet spinoffs ...

Leaked images of Hallmark's 2023 Dreambook reveal the company is releasing not one, but two Muppet ornaments this year. As you can see above this year's Muppet ornaments are Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker. There's a catch however, as they will packaged together in one box.  This marks Hallmark's second Beaker ornament - the first being Beaker with a metronome that plaid "Ode to Joy" from the YouTube short.  Sadly, it looks like neither of these ornaments have any sound features. Hopefully they're decently sized and last year's Animal ornament was MUCH smaller then previous installments.  Interestingly, there was no mention or any images of this year's Sesame Street ornaments(s).

Back in 202, the Henson Company started selling NTFs . At first we were excited for the possibility of something new for collectors. Then we learned not only were these items "virtually" worthless they are also horrible for the environment.  Now Variety is reporting that not only is Sesame Workshop launching  Sesame Street NFTs, they'll be priced at $60 each.  In case you don't know, here's how NTFs work.  Since Henson related NFTs began being "produced" we've learned even more about NFTs. As an investment,  Moneyunder30.com  said " NFTs are an exciting new medium for collecting digital art, but they're no good as investments. The odds of losing some or all of your money on an NFT investment are extremely high. And with Blue Chips and index funds still around, you simply don't need NFTs to become independently wealthy." After wining a slew of awards and accolades the last few months, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at last night's 95th Academy Awards.  This marks the Henson Company's very first Oscar after being nominated in 1966 for Time Piece  and 1979 for "The Rainbow Connection." While Disney / The Muppets won Best Song for "Man or Muppet" on 2011, the Henson Company didn't have any involvement.  You can watch Guillermo's acceptance speech below where he was once again  joined on stage by Lisa Henson. Last year The Masked Singe r had "Muppets Night" and now this year they've invited the S esame Street gang to sing along with the masked celebrities.   Based on the promo it looks like Oscar, Big Bird, Elmo, Abby, Cookie Monster and the Count will be featured. The Henson produced stop-motion film won for best Best Character Animation, Feature (Tucker Barrie), Best Music, Feature (Alexandre Desplat, Roeban Katz, Guillermo del Toro, Patrick McHale), Best Production Design, Feature (Curt Enderle, Guy Davis), Best Direction , and the top prize Best Feature (Guillermo del Toro, Mark Gustafson). This past October, Kermit the Frog joined Choir! Choir! Choir! at Lincoln Center. Kermit performed "Rainbow Connection" at the free event with Daveed Goldman Nobu Adilman, the violin group Rootstock Republic, and a room full of fans singing along.  Look closely, and you may even spot a few major Muppet fans in the crowd!
